The Secret Is Eternal Youth
One of the hardest bits about running an agency is finding, nurturing and then keeping great talent. And as Mark Collier, our Group Chairman, points out, in an increasingly fast moving world, it’s important to get a good blend of youth and experience. So with Mark we’ve got youth covered but what about experience…......
It's fair to say that in the dot com boom years, the industry was thick on talent but pretty thin on experience. And this left it very exposed when the dot com bubble burst. As we all know, over the following years, the industry matured and the age profile increased accordingly. By the end of the decade, I was not the only oldie in the digital domain.
I was recently given a sharp reminder of my age when I saw that I had been named in something called 'the high fifty' - the top 50 over 50's in the industry. I was actually in very good company and I was surprised at how many of us 'grey hairs' were still knocking about. And it got me thinking about the whole relationship between youth and experience in the creative industry.
